The Eurovision Song Contest Was Traditionally a Whimsical Delight – But It Has Transformed Into a Strategic Method to Whitewash War.

The Israeli government disputes these claims, consistent with how it denies everything it is charged with. None of this, it would seem, should be permitted to obstruct of Eurovision’s cherished spirit of unity.

The Contest Continues Against a Backdrop of Staggering Tragedy

Eurovision marks seven decades next year – almost double the current lifespan of an individual in Gaza now. The event will proceed, but it will find it impossible to reclaim the whimsical pleasure it historically embodied. A contest that initially championed peace has devolved into a transparent instrument to sanitize military aggression.
