Former Physician Charged with Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities have stated that a ex- physician stands accused of performing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were patients.

The Grave Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

One senior prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Investigation

The charges follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

List of Offences

The charging documents said the 45 charges comprise:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
