Brian Eno Calls On Public Help to Send Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Holiday Chart Peak.

A charity drive is aiming to send a traditional song from Palestine to the top of the UK charts. The effort aims to send support to communities in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

A Possibility for Support and an "Surprise Victory"

Renowned figure Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”

Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.

“The song holds a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Production History and Star-Studded Lineup

The song was recorded in the wake of a major charity concert held in September. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the rendition was cut from the show due to time constraints.

The impressive roster of performers contributing to Lullaby encompasses a group of well-known figures from the music world. All were part of the benefit event, which managed to collect a considerable total for humanitarian aid.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was produced by a group of music creators. The song showcases a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.

The organizers behind the campaign have stated that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.

“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a figure said. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Naturally, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”

The context in the region was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of infrastructure described as in ruins or severely impacted.

“Given that reality, a couple of million is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is first of all making this cause better known and demonstrating the human dimension of the story.”

The track is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the charity concert will be made accessible to view on a digital service from the 19th of December.
